5 Stunning Beach Sunsets in the UK

It's Photo Friday, so here are five of our favourite beach holidays in the UK for watching the sunset over the sea - and five stunning photos to inspire you, too.

1. Perranporth, Cornwall

Cornwall is such a popular destination for UK beach holidays that it's rare to find an open stretch of sand to watch the sunset here. But if you walk north along the two miles of Perranporth beach towards Penhale Sands, you'll find a stunning spot to admire the views. Be careful of the tide times, however - at high tide, the sea covers almost the entire beach.

2. Sandown, Isle of Wight

Sandown is a classic British beach, with the old fashioned promenade, deck chairs and beach huts adding that all-important UK seaside holiday charm. When the sun goes down over the water, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time.

3. Brighton, Sussex

Vibrant and arty, Brighton is one of the top spots for UK coastal breaks and weekend getaways. After a day at the beach, head to the new pier and watch the sunset with a drink for the most beautiful views, where the light fades over the ruins of the old west pier and spotlights the edge of the city.

4. Land's End, Cornwall

Where better to see the sun set than Land's End, the 'last point' at the western tip of Great Britain? This unique coastal location in the UK provides an excellent view from the clifftops of the sun sinking below the horizon, and there's something awe-inspiring about the view when you know you're literally right at the end of land for miles.

5. Hunstanton, Norfolk

Hunstanton is the only west-facing place on the East Coast for a beach holiday in the UK. Renowned for the gorgeous colour of its sunsets and the wide open spaces which allow for great photos, this stretch of Norfolk is appropriately known as Sunset Coast.
