Clitheroe is a market town located In the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, on the banks of the River Ribble. The beautiful surrounding countryside is filled with small towns and villages and a Clitheroe b and b is perfect if you're in need of a peaceful country break.

Clitheroe Castle and Museum sits on a limestone outcrop overlooking the town. This 12th Century Norman castle is set amongst sixteen acres of landscaped gardens, which offer beautiful views over Pendle Hill and beyond. The museum makes a great family day out, with a bandstand, skate park and an outdoor play zone. Families staying at a bed and breakfast in Clitheroe and seeking more family friendly activities should head for Brungerly Park, to the north west of the town. Here you can enjoy a walk through the park and explore the maze of wooden sculptures in the Ribble Valley Sculpture Trail. The Cross Hill Nature Reserve is also worth a visit - an abandoned quarry, it is now teeming with wildlife.

The town has some great little independent shops selling local produce and, if you plan a visit during the Annual Clitheroe Food Festival, you can enjoy quality Lancashire produce from top chefs, as well as music, food stalls and activities that make it a great day out for the family.
