Editor’s Pick: Langtrys, Blackpool

Perhaps not surprisingly for a town which shouts ‘English seaside charm,’ Blackpool is full of bed and breakfasts where huge numbers of families and groups of friends have a great time every year.

Langtrys caught our eye this week because they stand out from the crowd – they’re not just any old B&B in Blackpool, they’ve worked very hard at becoming the B&B in Blackpool.

Modern Comfort

Comfort and attention to detail.

Langtrys appreciate that staying at a B&B isn’t just about the atmosphere any more. Guests want the kind of modern comfort they’re used to at home – and hotels – at a guest house too. They’ve capitalized on this nicely by slotting contemporary touches like broadband and ipod docking stations in with the traditional feel and hospitality of a B&B.

The attention to detail can be seen in every little extra which the fantastic hosts through in – Italian accessorized bathrooms, linen sheets, goose down duvets, lambs wool throws, mood lighting, chocolates on the beds. None of this is an ‘essential’ but it’s the kind of boutique thing which adds a wow factor. Not only are you more likely to make a booking with these facilities, you’re also going to have a very comfy stay and think about coming back.

Yet Langtrys never feels like a show off or an exhibitionist – this is elegant rather than OTT, a place of quality not quantity. They’ve simply recognized a gap in the market for an affordable yet classy place to stay in a very busy tourist town.

Eco Awards

Green Tourism is also close to their hearts and, once again, the quality shines through in the home cooked breakfasts which use local and organic produce. Langtrys have also won a Green Tourism Silver Award for their green ethics and environmental policy – something that’ll impress eco-conscious guests as much as the fresh ingredients of the breakfast will amaze the whole family.

Real Welcomes

Fabulous service is the final piece of the puzzle. The warm hosts David and Julie will instantly help you feel relaxed, as they treat you more like a long lost friend than a guest. A homemade cake and a cup of tea or coffee await you on arrival and this lovely extra – which is a very simple but effective way to start a customer off on the right foot – adds just the right mix of luxury and homeliness to the ambiance of the B&B from the moment guests arrive.

The proof is out there – out of 72 reviews on Tripadvisor, 71 are excellent and 1 was very good. Not bad.
