1. Lighten Up

With small rooms go lighter in your choice of bedding to give the impression of more space. With larger rooms you can afford to play around a little with richer, darker colours and accessories.

2. It’ll Be All White

Crisp white linen gives the illusion of the bed being larger and more luxurious and adds a clean, fresh feel to the room. Team with sumptuous fur cushions for a warmer feel.

3. Earn Your Stripes

A fresh blue stripe or check adds a nautical, beach hut effect when teamed with slatted, bare wood headboards and distressed furniture. Perfect if you have a Guest House by the sea, especially if the room boasts a sea view.

4. Soften Up With Satin

Satins and velvets in warm, rich colours create the appearance of opulence and luxury. Add a few carefully chosen scatter cushions and this would make the ideal room for the romantic couple. You could even go so far as to call it the Honeymoon Suite.

5. Flower Power

Bold florals create a wonderful country cottage feel. Combined with plain cushions in matching shades, a handcrafted rug and a vase of wild flowers, you have all the makings of shabby chic.

6. Spot The Difference

Spots and swirls add interest and a bit of fun to a child’s room. If the room is quite small, keep the colours a pastel shade so the room doesn’t feel claustrophobic.

7. Tropical Paradise

Varying shades of green mixed with plenty of fresh white gives a wonderful tropical feel, especially with the addition of a wicker or bamboo window blind, a couple of trailing ferns and a vase of vibrant flowers.
